Big Freedia Takes Guilty Plea Deal For Section 8 Scam

Looks like New Orleans’ very own Big Freedia showed up in federal court today ready to face the judge for allegedly stealing nearly $35k in subsidized housing vouchers.

Journalist, David Hammer, gave us his Twitter play by play on what all went down while the Southern Bouncer accepted her guilty plea deal. Freedia, whose real name is Freddie Ross Jr., bounced into court with her reality cameras decked in “purple hair, a black velvet jacket, sequin shoes, and glittered fingernails” …. YASSSS Freedia slay!!!! Anyways, Freedia is on $25k bond an her sentencing is scheduled for June 16:

Freedia’s lawyer has released a statement saying,“As we have acknowledged, this is an incredibly unfortunate situation for which my client unequivocally accepts responsibility. Freedia has cooperated with the government at every stage of their investigation and her guilty plea today is another step forward in putting this matter behind us.”

Freedia was charged earlier this month after lying about her income on her Section 8 application. She attributed the “oversight” to being financially illiterate and wishes to advocate for programs that teach rappers and artists the basic principles of finance and planning.
