Texas Teachers In Hot Water Giving A Student A “Most Likely To Become A Terrorist” Certificate

Multiple teachers at the Anthony Aguirre Junior High School in Texas are under fire after they named a student “most likely to become a terrorist,” an apparent joke that the student’s mother found nowhere near funny.

Earlier this week, 13-year-old Lizeth Villanueva returned home from school with a certificate with the superlative on it and showed it to her mother. Liz says when she was handed the certificate during the mock ceremony, other teachers laughed.

“She said that some people might get offended, but she doesn’t really care about our feelings,” her mother said via the NY Post. “She was laughing about it.”

She goes on to say that she had to read the certificate twice because she was so shocked and says it sends a bad message to other students.

“It doesn’t look good at all, especially coming from a teacher, a grown-up woman,” Hernandez said. “It doesn’t look good because everything that’s going on right now.”

The principal has since apologized to the student and her family and stated that the teachers involved will be facing disciplinary actions.

“The Channelview Independent School District Administration would like to apologize for the insensitive and offensive fake mock awards that were given to students in a classroom,” the district said in a statement. “Channelview ISD would like to assure all students, parents and community members that these award statements and ideals are not representative of the district’s vision, mission and educational goals for our students.”

Who thinks they should be fired?
