It is almost time for the nominations for the 2018 Grammy Awards, and it looks like Drake may not be among the list of nominees.
According to the Associated Press, a person close to the nomination process revealed that Drizzy did not submit “More Life” for Album of the Year or Rap Album of The Year.
The source also added that Drake did not submit any of the singles from the project to categories such as Song of the Year or Best Rap Song.
Songs and albums that were released between October 1st, 2016 and September 30th, 2017 are eligible for nominations. Drake released “More Life” back in March and went on to reach number one on Billboard 200 and Billboard’s Top R&B/ Hip-Hop Albums.
Although he didn’t submit any of his work from the album, Drizzy can still earn a nomination if any of the songs where he is a featured guest is submitted.
Drake won a total of two awards at the 2017 Grammys, although he decided to skip out on the show like a few other artists. It has been rumored for some awhile that some artists feel like the Grammys do not properly award when it comes to the hip-hop categories.
Nominees for the 83rd Grammy Awards will be announced on November 28th and show will take place at Madison Square Garden on January 28th, 2018.
