Family Demands Answers After An Eight Year Old Boy’s Attempted Lynching In New Hampshire

A Claremont family is demanding answers after an eight year old boy was practically lynched by teens almost twice his age. Thankfully, he survived, but since the suspects are juveniles, their identities are being protected by certain privacy laws.

According to #TheRoot, the 2010 census report states that , N.H. “has 13,000 residents, and is 96 percent white, 0.6 percent African-American, and 1.8 percent biracial.” The boy is biracial and his family believes that the incident was racially motivated. His grandmother, Lorrie Slattery, told #ValleyNews that around 5 p.m. on August 28th, the group of teens started calling her grandson “racial epithets” and threw sticks and rocks at his legs.

Next, one or some of the teens stepped up into a picnic table and grabbed a rope. “The (teenagers) said, ‘Look at this,’ supposedly putting the rope around their necks,” Slattery said. “One boy said to (her grandson), ‘Let’s do this,’ and then pushed him off the picnic table and hung him.”

He was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where an interviewer who specializes in child abuse was able to gather from the boy that he swung back and forth 3-4 times before he was able to set himself free. She later took to Facebook to vent off some frustration about the incident.

“So my son is being flown to Dartmouth after a 14 year old kid decided to hang him from a tree. I don’t care if this was a so called accident or not. My son almost died because of some little sh** teenage kids,” she wrote.

Via Valley News:

Slattery said police told her there wasn’t anything they could do because one or more of the teenagers claimed the incident was an accident. That explanation didn’t fit the facts she has ascertained.

“If it was an accident, that boy or anybody there wouldn’t have left him,” Slattery said. “I believe it was intentional.”
