Fans Start An Online Petition To Rename An Atlanta Highway After Shawty Lo

Many fans are still mourning the loss of Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo. This past weekend the funeral service for the “Dey Know” rapper was held, however there is no doubt that his legacy will live on forever.

One way fans are trying to keep his memory alive is to rename an existing highway after him.

According to Uproxx, Mecy Washington started a petition last week where she is looking to currently gain 5,000 signatures. She is trying to name Atlanta’s former Bankhead Highway from Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway to Shawty Lo Parkway.

Washington said, “He was overly active in his Bankhead community. So much so, that neighborhood locals honored him by giving him the nickname “King of Bankhead” abbreviated K.O.B in which he utilized as much as he did his rap name Shawty Lo. What better way to honor this extraordinary man then to rename the street in which he grew up on and a community that he never left behind even after his success! Bankhead Hwy a.k.a. Donald Lee Hollowell is a thing of the past. Sign the petition as we welcome the new Atlanta street name Shawty Lo Pkwy.”

The highway is currently named after Donald Lee Hollowell who is most known for his role during the Civil Rights Movement.

Shawty Lo’s team thinks it would be better if the highway can be renamed after his real name, which is Carlos Walker.
