Looks like a Whitney Houston biopic is in the works thanks to the British Broadcasting Company (BBC)!
Via an announcement from BBC this past Tuesday, Nick Broomfield is directing the documentary entitled ‘Whitney,’ which the network says “goes in search of the forces that made and then destroyed the singer who has been described as having one of the greatest voices of the last 50 years.” The “forces” are more than likely a reference to Houston’s battle with cocaine use, so the film will probably have a darker tone than Angela Bassett’s Whitney biopic on Lifetime.
Broomfield was the director behind Kurt & Courtney, the 1998 documentary about Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. It entertained the idea that Courtney Love was somehow involved with her late husband, Kurt Cobain’s death.
There’s no word on on the official release date, but the movie will air on BBC 2. Will you guys be tuning in?
