Can y’all believe Obama’s term is really coming to an end!? With the 2016 presidential campaigns heating up, everyone wants to know who is going to make the cut to pick up where Obama left off? Who can we trust to meet our needs and keep their promises?
We’ll tell y’all who Spike Lee is rocking with: Bernie Sanders.
So the New York native hit South Caroline airwaves Tuesday morning (just days before he goes toe-to-toe with Hilary Clinton in NC), making his Bernie Sanders endorsement loud and clear.
“Wake up, South Carolina! This is your dude, Spike Lee. And you know that I know that you know that the system is rigged! For too long, we’ve given our votes to corporate puppets. Sold the okie-doke. 99 percent of Americans were hurt by the Great Recession of 2008, and many are still recovering,” he started. “That’s why I am officially endorsing my brother, Bernie Sanders.”
If y’all know Spike, y’all know he’s all about waking people up to the reality of situations: apparently politics is not excluded from that last.
“When Bernie gets into the White House, he will do the right thing!” He said.
Spike made sure to shine light on Bernie’s past history with social justice and civil rights support and his 1963 arrest for participating in a protest to end segregation in Chicago public schools.
Big ups to Spike Lee and his ability to still spot greatness!
