Authorities have arrested the man responsible for six deaths and injuries in Kalamazoo, Michigan, following a mass shooting.
Jason Dalton, 45 was taken into custody early Sunday morning following what the Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas says was a “random” shooting.
Dalton reportedly took a joy ride through the city just firing shots “randomly.” Bystanders in a apartment complex parking lot, outside of a Cracker Barrel restaurant, and a Kia car dealership became victims of the senseless crime. Among those injured were a 14-year-old girl.
Matyas said he doesn’t believe the shootings were targeted toward any specific person or crowd.
“These are random murders,” he said.
According to documents, Dalton began his rampage around 6 PM Saturday evening where he first fired shots in the apartment complex park lot in Richland Township which is in the East side of Kalamazoo County.
When Dalton was arrested around 12:40 AM, after a lengthy manhunt, he allegedly was cooperative. The weapons were recovered from his vehicle.
“The threat to the public is over,” Matyas said.
