Orlando Mayor Wants to Turn Pulse Nightclub Into Permanent Memorial

The mass shooting that took place at Pulse Nightclub on June 12th will be a moment that many will never forget. Well, Orlando’s Mayor, Buddy Dyer wants to make the club a permanent memorial.

According to WFME, the Mayor is actively negotiating with the club’s owner to buy the club and open it up to those who would like to come pay their respects to the victims.

“At some point I think the city needs to gain control [or] purchase the Pulse site,” the Mayor said. “And then make some determination, with a lot of input, on what a permanent memorial might look like.”

Sara Brady, the club’s spokesperson said that the club’s owner, Barbara Poma has already met with the Mayor regarding the proposal.

She said in a statement that that their conversations are still in “very preliminary” stages. We hear that she’s not exactly sure what her final decision will be. She says the club is sacred grounds to her also.

Pulse remains closed after 49 people were killed and 53 were injured when a gunman open fire.
