Pharrell Williams Talks About His Contributions To The New Film ‘Hidden Figures’

One of the most highly anticipated films that will release this holiday season is, “Hidden Figures,” starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae.

The three ladies star as Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, the African American women who helped send the first U.S. astronauts into space at the NASA facility in Virginia.

One person who made a great contribution to the film is Pharrell Williams as he served as one of the producers on the film, as well as the man behind the films soundtrack.

Recently he talked to Deadline, about his contributions to the film, he said, “When we heard about the project, it just made sense for everything we stand for. It was about uncovering a significant part of history, and the lifting of women and the highlighting of their importance.”

As a native of Virginia, Pharrell thought it was important that this piece of history was told to the world.

He also contributed eight original songs to the films soundtrack and collaborated with Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch on the score.

“Our interesting challenge, which we were happy to rise to, was to have something that was a little more reflective of how Katherine, Dorothy and Mary must have been feeling. It was a cool, interesting perk that came along with getting the job, said Pharrell.”

“Hidden Figures” releases in theaters on Christmas Day.
