Sony Looking To Reboot Norman Lear Sitcoms ‘The Jeffersons,’ Good Times’ And Others

It looks like Sony and television writer/producer Norman Lear may be looking to reboot some of his classic television shows, such as “The Jeffersons,” and “Good Times.”

According to Variety, Sony is currently gearing up to premiere the revival of his 1980’s sitcom, “One Day At A Time,” for Netflix. The show follows a single mother who is raising two children. The show originally aired in 1975, and ended in 1984.

Now the talks of bringing back his other classic shows have come about.

However, Lear and Sony executives would be more interested in recreating classic episodes from the shows, while working with the original scripts, and presenting them as a short six-episode series.

Lear said, “There is some talk about doing some of the original shows, redoing them with today’s stars. There is a possibility that we’ll do ‘All in the Family,’ ‘Maude,’ ‘The Jeffersons,’ “Good Times.”

The mini-series reboot discussions started to occur prior to the development of “One Day At A Time,” for Netflix. However, the remake of that particular series was made just for Netflix.

At the time, there are no other streaming services attached to the miniseries projects that are up for discussion.

Glenn Adilman, executive vice president of comedy development for Sony also said, “We’re exploring it. It’s sort of tricky to figure out what the business of that is and what that would be and how it would work. But its something we’re trying to figure out.”

Roommates what are your thoughts?
