Okay #Roommates it looks like #SaltNPepa are getting ready for a #Lifetime miniseries, and the gospel group, #TheClarkSisters, are doing a biopic with Lifetime as well.

This story gets even better because our girl #QueenLatifah will be the executive producer for both projects through her Flavor Unit production company, according to @pagesix. Salt-N-Pepa will also be executive producers, as well as #JesseCollins and #ShakimCompere. #MaryJBlige and #MissyElliott will be executive producers for The Clark Sisters’ biopic film.

According to @pagesix, the “Salt-N-Pepa” miniseries will focus on both members from the group, Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton. It will show both of them being students at a nursing school, then it will transition to their rise and success upon entering the world of hip-hop and rap. Their success includes the pair becoming the first female rap group to go platinum, and what’s even better is the film will include some of their biggest hits. The hits are “Let’s talk About Sex,” “What A Man,” “Shoot,” “Push It,” and more.

“The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel” will be a biopic that focuses on the group growing up in Detroit, Michigan and overcoming ensuing family issues, to then becoming the most successful female gospel group in history. They are in fact the highest selling female gospel group ever. According to @pagesix, the cast who will portray the sisters  include Christina Bell (Twinkie), Kierra Sheard (Karen), Sheléa Frazier (Dorinda), Raven Goodwin (Denise) and Angela Birchett (Jacky). The mother of the sisters, Mattie Moss Clark, will be played by Aunjanue Ellis. The director of the biopic is Christine Swanson, and the writer is Sylvia L. Jones.

Both the EVP of Movies, Limited Series & Original Movie Acquisitions, Lifetime and LMN’s Tanya Lopez said in a statement: “Bringing untold stories of phenomenal women to life has been a core tenant of Lifetime.” They then went on to say, “We are thrilled to partner with Cheryl, Sandra, Queen Latifah, Mary, Missy, and the Clark Sisters for the new projects that will showcase these iconic women in music to new audiences.”

As they continue to work on production, we will keep you guys updated on both the miniseries and biopic of these successful music groups. The two are set to make their debuts in 2020.
