Officers say they did recover a gun at the scene. Meanwhile, the boy remains in custody at the Montgomery Youth Detention Facility.

Witness Snake Knapp told WSFA that he saw the boy even pick up two adults after reportedly carjacking a vehicle.

“Whenever I realized it was a little boy, I knew I had to follow them and make sure no one got hit and that he got caught because don’t want him driving all over Montgomery, causing more accidents or hurting himself or hurting other people,” said Knapp.

Knapp wondered where the child’s parents were during the shocking incident.

“I think parents just really need to know where their kids are, what their kids are doing, and just talk to them about these kinds of things.”

No injuries were reported, per NBC 15.

News Comes Two Months After A 10-Year-Old Michigan Boy Similarly Stole Car

If you recall, The Shade Room reported a similar case last month.

A 10-year-old boy reportedly stole an SUV before taking it for a joyride on a Michigan interstate on May 27. The child told police he wanted to meet up with his mom, according to authorities.

The unnamed minor allegedly stole a 2017 Buick Encore in Buena Vista, 35 miles north of Flint, Michigan State Police tweeted.

NBC News reports that police received a call from OnStar, a security service installed on the car, alerting dispatchers that the vehicle was southbound on Interstate 75.

Troopers attempted to pull the SUV over. However, the young driver did not stop, police said. OnStar then disabled the Buick, the outlet reports.

A 32-second video of the incident shows police chasing after the vehicle.

The car could be seen weaving through traffic before eventually hitting a guardrail and stopping on the shoulder of Interstate 75.

The child in that case was similarly taken into custody, and taken to the Saginaw County Juvenile Detention Center.

He’s facing counts of unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle, fourth-degree fleeing and eluding police, and assaulting, resisting, or obstructing police, according to Michigan News.
