So, I’m sure a vast majority of you guys have heard this new song called #Panda that has seemingly taken the world by storm, in part, because everyone thought it was Atlanta’s own, #Future! I literally thought it was Future until two weeks ago (lol).
Anyway, the actual performer of the song is Desiigner and he’s a new-ish artist who’s recently been featured on Kanye West’s #TLOP. He was signed to G.O.O.D. Music earlier this year, so no wonder he’s experiencing so much success with his single! Where it gets kind of awkward is where the numbers lie, or don’t lie… According to the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Panda has peaked this week #14 with only 6 weeks on the chart meanwhile, Future’s only charted to No. 28 so far– and this does not include his collaboration with Drake.
XXL Magazine writes of Panda, “This is far higher than any Future solo release. The highest spot Future has attained on his own is No. 28. The Atlanta rapper’s DS2 track “Where Ya At” and Evol SINGLE “Low Life” have both reached No. 28. 2014’s “Move That Dope” only managed to reach No. 46 on the Hot 100, while the huge single “Fuck Up Some Commas” could not even crack the top 50, peaking at No. 55.”
Now, we’re not saying that Desiigner bit off of Future’s style, but they are very, VERY similar. Do you guys think that since everyone thinks Future and Desiigner are the same person that the latter is banking off of it? Perhaps the ony way to resolve this issue is to put them on one song together! Let’s chat, Roommates!
