Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence have known each other for years, but they never imagined that they might be merging their families.

Eddie Supports His Son Eric’s Relationship
According to PEOPLE, Eddie recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Gayle King on ‘CBS Mornings.’
During his conversation with King, the legendary actor discussed his son Eric Murphy’s relationship with Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin Lawrence. Per Entertainment Tonight, the ‘Coming to America’ star initially supported them and found it exciting when their relationship began, noting that Martin felt the same way.
“We were just like, it’s cool. They’re both beautiful. They look amazing together,” Eddie said.
During his interview with King, Eddie also discussed the potential future if Erica and Jasmin married and had a child.
“It’s funny, everybody asks, ‘What, is that baby going to be funny?’ Like, just our gene pool is going to make this funny baby. If they ever get married and decide to have a child, I’m expecting the child to be funny,” Eddie continued.
PEOPLE reports that Martin seemed to echo Eddie’s sentiments during his appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ in 2022, joking about the possibility of their children creating a “comedy super-baby” someday.
Martin has accepted his daughter’s relationship with Eddie’s son, but mentioned he prefers to stay out of their business and respect what they have going on. However, he later joked that if and when their wedding does happen, he will try to get Eddie to foot the bill.
Fans of Eddie and Martin are aware of their shared history. They appeared in two films together, ‘Boomerang’ in 1992 and ‘Life’ in 1999.

Eddie has ten children in total, including Eric, who is his oldest son from his former relationship with Paulette McNeely. Meanwhile, Jasmin is Martin’s eldest daughter from his marriage to Patricia Southall. Martin also shares two daughters with his ex-wife, Shamicka Gibbs.
Eric Murphy and Jasmin publicly announced their relationship in June 2021, with Eric posting a selfie alongside Martin Lawrence’s daughter on Instagram. In the caption, Eric wrote, “Head over heels in LOVE with YOU. #myotherhalf #equallyyoked #iloveyou.”
In January 2022, Jasmin informed InTouch Weekly that she initially met Eric through her uncle, and their fathers actually didn’t play a role in sparking their relationship.
“It wasn’t even through our dads. And they’ve done two movies together, they’re friends,” Jasmin Lawrence explained.
