Earlier this week, Lord of the Rings star, Elijah Wood made comments that there is a pedophilia ring that runs Hollywood.
“What bums me about these situations is that the victims can’t speak as loudly as the people in power,” Wood said. “That’s the tragedy of attempting to reveal what is happening to innocent people: They can be squashed, but their lives have been irreparably damaged.” Unfortunately he hasn’t been the only actor to come out with such allegations. Lost Boys star Corey Feldman backs Wood’s statements of rampant pedophilia and even attributes it to the death of his friend, actor Corey Haim.
Feldman calls Hollywood a place “where adults have more direct and inappropriate connection with children than probably anywhere else in the world” and warns that the abuse is only becoming more prevalent thanks to social media. The actor explained that producers create fake accounts in order to contact unsuspecting children. “It’s more now than ever because nowadays you can use the internet to create fake profiles and fake accounts. They reach out to little kids on Twitter, they reach out to little kids on Facebook, and they say, ‘I’m a big producer and I can help you.’ With social media we have more access than ever to everybody. It’s a growing problem, not a shrinking problem.”
During his exclusive interview with The Hollywood reporter, Feldman went on to explain the extent of sexual abuse that he and his best friend Corey Haim endured as child actors.
“He had more direct abuse than I did. With me, there were some molestations, and it did come from several hands, so to speak, but with Corey, his was direct rape, whereas mine was not actual rape. And his also occurred when he was 11. My son is 11 now, and I can’t even begin to fathom the idea of something like that happening to him. It would destroy his whole being.”
“I believe that Haim’s rapist was probably connected to something bigger, and that is probably how he has remained protected for all these years. This person uses intimidation and threats as a way to keep people quiet. And all these men were all friends. Ask anybody in our group of kids at that time: They were passing us back and forth to each other. [Alison Arngrim] from Little House on the Prairie said [in an interview], “Everybody knew that the two Coreys were just being passed around.” Like it was something people joked about on studio lots. We’re not talking about huge executives and directors that I am aware of that were involved in this. The people that I knew doing it were publicists, they were photographers for teen magazines, things like that.”
Feldman continued to explain that a handful of these predators would always attend private parties, charity events and awards shows that were teeming with young children ranging in ages 10-16. Oftentimes, these men coax the parents into allowing them to take the kids to these functions in order to network and Feldman and Wood insist that this is not their only intention.
There is a very real issue going on behind the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, so Roommates, if any of you have children in the entertainment business, ask everybody what’s going on with your child and do your best to be as involved as you can!
