Sean Kingston & His Mom, Janice Turner, Go Viral After Their Federal Arraignment
According to Local 10, Kingston and Janice Turner appeared in a federal court on Friday, August 23. The pair reportedly pled not guilty to charges of “conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud charges.” Furthermore, the mother and son reportedly requested a trial by jury.
However, it wasn’t the mother and son’s arraignment that landed them in major headlines. On Friday, Local 10 shared footage of the outlet’s reporter, Andrew Perez, attempting to speak with the pair as they left the court building.
Instead of stopping for the reporter, Kingston ran to his SUV while his mother skipped to her car in a similar fashion.

Here’s Why Sean Kingston & His Mom Are In Hot Water
As The Shade Room previously reported, Kingston’s home in Florida was raised by authorities from the Broward Sheriff’s Office on May 23. At the time, it was reported that the raid aimed to confiscate a home entertainment system valued at six figures, which Kingston allegedly never paid for in full.
Furthermore, it was also reported that Turner was present at the home and arrested during the time of the raid.
After the raid, Kingston spoke out, alleging he and his mother were “good” and his lawyers were “handling everything.”
However, a few days later, Kingston was arrested himself, and both he and his mother remained detained for fraud and theft charges, per The Shade Room.
Then, in July, it was reported that Kingston and his mother were facing up to 20 years behind bars, per The Shade Room. In addition to the alleged scheme of stealing the entertainment system, Kingston and his mother were accused of stealing over $1 million of luxury goods from various companies and banks.
Now, Local 10 adds that in addition to pleading not guilty to their federal charges, the pair have also pled not guilty to their state charges. Like their federal case, the pair are also reportedly requesting a jury trial.
According to the outlet, the pair’s attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, is hoping to get either case dismissed since the “charges are stemming from the same transactions.”
“We advised the court we are going to be filing some motions regarding double jeopardy issues in federal court and state court,” Rosenblatt told the outlet.
Local 10 notes that the mother and son’s next court is scheduled for October 11.
