Jazmine Sullivan has opened up about a tough transition she’s been dealing with privately as her 39th birthday approached. The Grammy Award-winning singer shared an emotional message on social media, where she let fans know she lost her son — who would’ve turned two months old.

Jazmine Sullivan Speaks On Miscarriage In Heartfelt Birthday Message
On Thursday, April 10, just a day after turning 39, Jazmine Sullivan got real fans on Instagram. She thanked everyone for the birthday love but also opened up about some personal pain. The ‘Need U Bad’ songstress reflected on losing her mother, Pamela, who died on July, 22, 2023, after battling breast cancer.
“Whew.. thank yall for ur birthday wishes. Leading up to my birthday has been incredibly hard as I’ve been thinking abt my mother and missing her more than words can say,” Sullivan wrote.

On top of that, Sullivan revealed in her IG Story post that she recently went through a miscarriage.
“Also I realized that I woulda have been holding my 2-month-old son that I never got to meet. So needless to say I’ve been down bad,” she continued.
Despite the pain, Jazmine mentioned that she still found a moment of peace with a birthday massage. She also asked fans for prayers and thanked them for their constant love and support.
“But yesterday I had a massage that helped tor release some of the deep pain I’ve been holding in for a while. So I’m grateful for that. I’m also so grateful that so many of you think of me and take the time to write! It’s all so beautiful!! Please continue to pray for me as I heal from life’s a** whooping.”
Jazmine Sullivan Gets Real About Grieving The Loss Of Her Mom
Though details about Sullivan’s pregnancy remain unclear, she has been open with fans about grieving her later mother. PEOPLE reports that Jazmine’s mother passed away at 64 from breast cancer.
In 2024, the soulful singer posted a series of updates for her birthday on Instagram, where she shared in her caption that she was still struggling with her mother’s passing.
“I miss my mommy! I tried so hard to keep busy for my birthday to distract myself, but I don’t think it works like that. I cried all month. I’ll cry for the rest of my life. But I’ll also smile, laugh and dance in between the tears! So thank God for that! ❤️”
