Coi Leray has been glowing and showing out during her pregnancy! She is expecting her first child with rapper Trippie Redd. With her May 11th birthday approaching, the 27-year-old mom-to-be has much to be grateful for. Coi spoke exclusively with The Shade Room about the meaning behind her daughter’s name, how her body has changed, her support system, and what life she envisions for Miyoco.

Coi Leray Reveals The Meaning Of Her Daughter’s Name
The artist tells TSR that Miyoco comes from a friend’s sister’s name. After falling in love with the name, Coi discovered it means “beautiful child.” For her, it was the icing on the cake. The New Jersey native reveals the name and includes letters from her and Trippie Redd’s names.
“It also kind of has me and her father’s name kind of tied together,” she said. ‘Mi’ is the first part of Trippie Redd’s first name, “Michael”, and ‘Co’ is the first half of Coi’s name.
Before the name, though, came finding out she was pregnant. She revealed to TSR that there were several signs.
“When I found out I was pregnant, I was feeling sick, and I missed my period, so I had took a pregnancy test, and I was like, Oh my God. — I was excited. I’m getting older now, and I think God’s time is always on time. The first person I told was the father of my child. It was a great moment, we shared, and it was exciting.”
And while the ‘No More Parties’ rapper is no stranger to a little turn-up, she’s been on a different beat as a mommy-to-be. She tells us about cutting out weed and alcohol when she found out she was expecting.
“I’m 100% sober. Before I was pregnant, I was such a big weed head smoke a lot of weed, I would even just drink and since I’ve been pregnant, I’ve been sober, and my mind is so much more clear. I’ve learned to — really dig inside of who I truly am as a person versus me, depending on the alcohol and the liquor to come up with [things],” she says.
What Has Pregnancy Been Like For Coi & Her Body?
So far, Coi says it’s been a smooth pregnancy. No morning sickness or severe headaches. However, she tells us the baby is starting to slow her down as the delivery date approaches.
“I could barely walk right now. I’m running out of breath so much as I’m walking all over the place,” she says.
Walking aside, Baby Miyoco has also been making her mommy switch up a few beauty routines. She keeps her hair in a sew-in and maintains a skin care routine after a few struggles. At the beginning of her pregnancy, she experienced breakouts and dry skin.
“I feel like one thing I struggled with this pregnancy [and] still till right now, is having a lot of dry skin, and even in my scalp. That’s something I never really experienced. So now I have to really exfoliate, get the dead skin cells off, and extra moisturize. Like moisturizing is everything. Before I go to sleep, I have oil, vitamin E oil. When I wake up, I make sure I put on vitamin E oil, sunscreen and vitamin C, like all that stuff is very important.

Her pregnancy has also come with its upsides in body changes! She says her family has noticed her butt has grown and even joke it looks like she got a BBL during pregnancy.
“I’m around my family, and they like, girl, did you get a little BBL, and I’m like, — come on. How did I go and sneak and get a BBL while pregnant? But I don’t really notice how big my butt really is. I think, because I look in the mirror every single day. I do see a change, like in my face and my hands, as far as just the weight gain, but I don’t see a big difference because I always thought I had a big butt.”
Rapper Praises Her Family Life And Support System
Coi Leray’s family life always seems to make headlines. She has publicly spoken about her rocky relationship with her dad, Benzino, who was absent at her baby shower. However, while talking to TSR, Coi boasts about her strong support system. The star thought she’d be having a boy, as the number of men in her family outweighs the number of women. She is the only girl among her five brothers, who, she says, don’t play with her.
“I’m human, so I feel, and I have emotions, and especially while pregnant, emotions be at an all time high. But luckily, I have a great support system, and I put God first always. — I’m the only girl. So, you know, — my brothers and all the men in my family, I’m like very protected, — I feel very protected [by] them.”
