Fans are sending rapper Mello Buckzz love and prayers after a mass shooting broke out outside of her album release party. NBC Chicago reports that the fatal incident happened on Wednesday, July 2, outside Artis Restaurant and Lounge in Chicago.

Details Revealed In Mass Shooting Outside Mello Buckzz’s Album Release Party
A night that started in celebration turned tragic for Mello Buckzz after a drive-by mass shooting claimed the lives of her boyfriend and a close friend. Per CBS News, four people were killed during the incident and fourteen were reportedly injured. Chicago police said a dark vehicle drove past the nightclub on the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue, where three suspects opened fire into a crowd standing on the sidewalk. The group had reportedly just left Mello Buckzz’s album release party for her project, ‘Hollyhood.’
According to CBS, the victims ranged in age from 21 to 32. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified two of the men who died as 25-year-old Leon Andrew Henry and 23-year-old Devonte Terrell Williamson. A 26-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman both suffered gun shot wounds and later passed away at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Authorities believe the attack was targeted and said they are working to prevent any further violence.
Mello Buckkz Breaks Silence On Heartbreaking Shooting
On Thursday, July 3, Mello Buckzz took to her Instagram Story to speak out about the tragic incident. Buckzz, whose real name is Melanie Doyle, asked fans to keep her in their prayers and admitted that the incident left her heartbroken and devastated.
“Prayers for all my sisters God please wrap yo arms every last one of them. We need u I’m ngl I’m f****d up.. feel like everything just weighing down on me…All I can do is talk to God and pray,” Mello wrote.
She also added that she wouldn’t wish this kind of pain on anyone. “I don’t wish this typa pain on nobody dam my f*****g crew,” she continued.
Along with her messages, she posted throwback clips of her boyfriend and friends. In one TikTok challenge video with her boyfriend, she included the caption, “We was having so much fun in our private little life, couldn’t leave each other alone glued to my hip everyday. It’s not a night we ain’t spend together. I’m so f*****g angry. U was woke I held yo hand until I couldn’t. U talked to me clearly I don’t get it boo i’m f****d up.”
