The lineup for Soulquarius, California’s “R&B Jam” concert was just released but fans wasted no time requesting a change in the artist agenda!
Along with Erykah Badu, Jhene Aiko, Monica, DMX, and many more, R. Kelly is headlining the music festival February 18th but fans are not here for the Kells–and now thanks to Jamie Thompson, a R&B Stan, there is now a Change petition floating around the internet requesting his removal from the show.
Jamie says “an endless flood of abuse allegations and widespread knowledge of his notorious “romance” with the late singer Aaliyah, who was [15 and he was 27]” is the main reason he shouldn’t be supported to perform by fans and especially women.
“It’s this sort of nonchalance and casual embrace of abusers that rests at the fulcrum of rape culture, violence against women, and in this case, misogynoir,” she writes.

“2017 is around the corner and many of us still have to look on in disgust as a proven predator, rapist, and serial abuser of young Black girls and women remains embraced in the world of music. Stop booking this man. Stop supporting this man.”
