The next time we see Tyrese Gibson sobbing about his daughter, Shayla, could likely be at her upcoming high school graduation. For now, fans got to see him BIG cheesin’ at her recent prom send-off! He shared a video posing next to her and her prom date, sparking hilarious reactions! Then, he circled back to explain the EXTRA mile he went for his Shayla this past weekend—jewel-crusted suit included!

Tyrese Matches Shayla’s Prom Look In Sweet Video
As mentioned, Daddy Gibson shared the prom footage on his Instagram account on May 17. First, he shared a clip of pictures with Shayla and her prom date, who stood on the other side of her, his arms crossed in front of him. Meanwhile, Tyrese has one hand on Shayla’s back and holds her hand in the other while smiling. Shayla wore a stunning silver-jeweled gown with a high leg slit. She styled her hair in loose, long waves. Tyrese matched his daughter’s fly in a white suit, while her prom date wore black, with a black bow tie.
In his caption, he penned a sweet message to “every little girl reading” it and also a pointed one at his now 18-year-old. He spoke highly of her academic success, his pride in her and pushing through any and all obstacles to fight for his presence in her life.
“This is my firstborn, Shayla Gibson…The heir to the Gibson legacy and empire that I’m still building brick by brick. If “putting it all on the line for your child” was a person… it would be me. I stand here today as a survivor of family court, divorce, public judgment, private pain, reputation hits, sleepless nights and every test imaginable… but I never stopped showing up as a PRESENT father. Never. Because when you plant seeds in love and water them with consistency, prayer, sacrifice and faith… eventually you stand beside the fruit of that labor. And today? I’m standing next to mine. Her last day of school was 48 hours ago… and my baby just got accepted into college on a FULL RIDE. 🙏🏾 Her GPA surpassed mine years ago. In many ways, I’m healing parts of my own upbringing by watching my daughters rise higher than I ever did. That’s the goal. That’s generational growth. Tyrese shared a second video, showing the behind the scenes of getting ready for prom. At one point, Gibson is seen hand sewing Shayla’s dress to fix some of its exposure and joking about getting an A+ in home economics. He’s also seen helping her prom date get ready, from adjusting his jewelry to using the lint roller on his jacket.
Later, in The Shade Room’s comment section, Tyrese explained every role he played leading up to prom, including being the driver, stylist and head of security. He also complimented her date for being a “very respectful and honorable young man.”
“Yes, I was the driver. The stylist, the Navy Seal level of security land and water, I flew a drone over the afterparty and I did Valet……. As a retired ex savage…. We know what boys try and do on prom night….. All jokes aside side….…. He was a great sport, very respectful and honorable young man and Shayla has the best time ever…. But I def feel like I’m gonna be sleep for 3 days it was all hands on deck I’m wiped out……. Graduation next week fast forward…. College dreams….. #MyShayla,” Tyrese Gibson wrote in the comment section.
Fans Are Cracking Up & Sharing In Tyrese’s Joy
In the comment section of both videos Tyrese Gibson posted, his girlfriend, Zelie Timothy, left some loving compliments. On video posing for photos, she wrote, “YESSSSSS MY GIRLLL YESSSSS 😍😍.” Her other comment on the behind-the-scenes video, which she’s tagged in, says:
“Beautiful WOW WOW WOOOOW 😍 So proud of you Shayla 🤍 Watching you step into this next chapter with so much grace, beauty, and brilliance is so special. Full ride, prom, graduation season… God is so good. You deserve every blessing coming your way ✨”
The Shade Room’s Instagram comment section was also poppin’ with over 3,200 reactions. The post included both videos of Shayla. Fans had plenty to say, from cracking jokes about Tyrese’s suit to congratulating Shayla Gibson on her exciting memory!
