Rod Wave Alludes To Boosie & Lyfe Jennings Not Owning Their Music
Rod Wave has continued to speak out following his recent back-and-forth with Boosie over Rod’s use of sampled music. The conversation regained attention following Rod Wave’s interview on ‘Club Shay Shay,’ where he spoke about his past differences with Boosie after the rapper previously expressed interest in suing him over alleged sampling of his music without compensation. The interview sparked a response from Boosie. Lyfe Jennings later joined the conversation, also expressing his frustrations over his music being sampled by the Florida rapper.
Now, Rod is addressing the situation once again. While celebrating his birthday aboard a private plane, Rod took to his Instagram Story to share another message about the ongoing discussion. In a video, the rapper continued to speak on the criticism surrounding his music and seemingly pushed back on the idea that Boosie and Lyfe Jennings personally own the songs Rod Wave sampled.
Furthermore, Rod Wave said that the individuals or companies who legally own the music would be compensated, adding that the songs in question would not have been released without the proper approvals. Toward the end of his message, Rod Wave encouraged up-and-coming artists to pay close attention to their contracts and understand what they’re agreeing to before signing, so they don’t find themselves dealing with similar situations later in their careers.
