Video Shows Roadster Jumping Row Of Vehicles
Tesla also shared footage of the Roadster doing its best Evil Knievel routine on Instagram. The clip shows the car driving towards a row of vehicles, including a semi cab, before lifting off and turning 360 degrees in midair over the row. The post is captioned: “The Kickflip.”
In addition, Tesla also shared close-up photographs of the flying sports car on Instagram. The interior of the two-seat vehicle is shown in the pics, and the car features doors that open upwards rather than out. The post is captioned:
“Roadster is a true pilot’s car: active aerodynamics, a multi-mode suction system & cold-gas thrusters,” it reads, in part. “Beyond the limits of physics: – Multi-mode fan & ground sealing system pulls air from beneath the vehicle, generating enough suction to hold it upside down while stationary – Powered fans & active wings maximize traction and cornering speeds in all conditions, achieving massive downforce at zero speed – Advanced cold-gas thrusters w/ all-electric actuators make micro adjustments within a fraction of a second to stabilize the vehicle in flight.”
Despite Musk’s claim, the Federal Aviation Administration says the car doesn’t meet the definition of an aircraft, per CBS News.
