Steve Wilkos Will Not Serve Jail Time In Drunk Driving Case

Back in March, #JerrySpringer legend #SteveWilkos was officially charged with a DUI after being in a horrific car crash he caused in Darien, CT this past February. According to @TMZ_Tv, Wilkos had originally said that the crash was caused after he looked down to grab his glasses. He hit several poles and a tree before the car flipped over.

However, a simple distraction was not really to blame. Wilkos was drunk and had later blew a .29% BAC which is almost four times the legal limit. Police issued a search warrant for his medical records during their investigation which prompted them to issue a warrant for his arrest. Wilkos was charged with operating under the influence and failure to drive right and was released after posting $1,500 bond.

Wilkos had stated that he “had a lapse in judgment” while in a depression which led him to drive drunk. “This experience reinforces my commitment to get the professional help that I need and I have recently completed an intensive medically supervised program,” he said.

Willis is one lucky man, because the judge presiding over his case agreed that he needed rehab and ordered him to take a 15-week-long Alcohol Education Course. Wilkos must also participate in a panel with drunk driving victims. This means that Wilkos gets zero jail time and if he doesn’t have any slip ups in a year, then the DUI charge will come off of his record.

Must be nice!
