Yesterday, news broke that the city of Chicago was looking to file a civil lawsuit against Jussie Smollett after he refused to pay for investigation costs. Now Jussie’s lawyer Mark Geragos has responded to the city in a letter about what can they can expect if they decide to follow through with their threat to sue Jussie.
In a letter obtained by Fox News, Mark says that Jussie “will not be intimidated into paying” the $130,000.”
He reportedly continued to say that if the city follows through with their lawsuit, he’ll be demanding sworn depositions from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson, and the Osundairo brothers. As we previously reported, Jussie Smollett was cleared of all criminal charges. He pled not guilty to 16 counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly lying about a hate crime that he faced earlier this year.
The city reportedly sent a letter to Jussie’s legal team last week giving them an April 4th deadline to make a payment. He has yet to do so, therefore they have made legal threats.
