#Roommates, as #BlackHistoryMonth continues to roll on, the latest instance of #BlackExcellence has emerged and this time it’s in the world of sports. Jennifer King has recently made history courtesy of her inspiring new position with the Washington Redskins.
When you are dripping in #BlackGirlMagic there is absolutely no limit to what you can achieve, just ask Jennifer King. @ESPN reports that she has just made history with her new appointment as the first African American full-year female coaching intern, a position she will hold with the NFL’s Washington Redskins.
King’s position involves working with the offensive staff with a general focus on the Redskins’ running backs. She is set to work with the team throughout the regular NFL season. King also has a pretty impressive resume, as she previously worked as a wide receivers coaching intern for the Carolina Panthers in 2018 and 2019. Additionally, she worked as an offensive assistant at Dartmouth College last fall.

Redskins Coach Ron Rivera, had this to say about King joining the team:
“Jennifer is a bright young coach and will be a great addition to our staff. Her familiarity with my expectations as a coach and my firsthand knowledge of her work ethic and preparation were big factors in bringing her to the Redskins.”
While King has plenty of experience coaching football, she also has experience at playing the game. She played for the New York Sharks in the Women’s Football Alliance and served as an assistant receivers coach for the Arizona Hotshots in the Alliance of American Football.
When asked about what her accomplishments mean to our young black women, King previously said this:
“It’s kind of like the [movie] ‘Black Panther,’ There was never, like, a black superhero, and now that there’s a black superhero, it’s like, ‘Holy cow!’ For the little girls, that’s just what I want for them: To let them know, if this is what they want to do, they can do it.”
We send Jennifer King our full support!
Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
