According to @foxla, it was officially announced, on Wednesday, that we’ll be safer-at-home, until thangs become better. “It is still safer to remain at home, COVID-19 has not changed,” Ferrer stated.
Dr. Barbara Ferrer also stated, though we’ll be at home for the next few months, restrictions will gradually be loosened, as we make more progress.
“While the Safer at Home orders will remain in place over the next few months, restrictions will be gradually relaxed under our 5-stage Roadmap to Recovery, while making sure we are keeping our communities as safe as possible during this pandemic,” said the county’s Public Health Director, Dr. Barbara Ferrer.
She also stated that the county’s safer-at-home dates may not necessarily reflect that of the state’s.
“Literally half the cases and half the deaths are happening in LA County right now,” Ferrer noted earlier this week.
The new order allows two additional categories of “lower risk businesses” that are now allowed to reopen.
There is now a five-phase plan. Currently we are in the early phase of stage two, as some businesses have reopened—florists, retailers, golf courses, car dealers, and trails. Soon, other low-risk businesses, including all retail businesses with the exception to those located in malls. It also includes manufacturing and logistic businesses that supply to those lower-risk businesses, according to Fox LA.
Ferrer also reminded us that we must continue to practice social distancing, while the safer-at-home act is in place.
“Everyone must continue to practice physical distancing of at least six feet apart and wear a clean cloth face covering that securely covers both your nose and mouth when around people outside of your household,” the order states.
We still are prohibited of gatherings of any size, unless it’s within your immediate household.
As we previously reported, on Tuesday, Ferrer initially stated that “with all certainty” for the next three months. That sent people into a panic, especially with the initial safer-at-home order set to expire Friday, May 15.
