TSR Updatez: Any Lil Nas X fans waiting on his “Satan shoes” will have to keep on waiting as #Nike was successful in halting the sale of the controversial kicks. As we previously reported, Nike sued MSCHF–the company that partnered with Lil Nas X to customize the Air Max 97s that allegedly feature a drop of human blood–for trademark and infringement and asked a judge in its suit to block the sale of the shoes.
The court granted Nike’s request today for a temporary restraining order against MSCHF, which blocks the company from fulfilling any orders, according to TMZ.
The shoe, which had a price tag of $1,018, sold out of its 666 pairs within minutes Monday but due to the restraining order, MSCHF will not be allowed to ship them to customers awaiting the shoe.
Nike has been clear from the jump that it has no connection to Lil Nas X’s shoes in any way and the shoe giant did not authorize the production of them.
TMZ reports judges that grant temporary restraining orders of this type when there is a high probability that the petitioner will win when there’s a full-blown hearing.
Lil Nas X and the art collective have received a lot of backlash from the shoes but Lil Nas does not seem to be fazed by the social media “cancellation,” and has continued to use his social media accounts to troll his critics.
MSCHF has not publicly addressed the controversy or the lawsuit but it sounds like the company is equally unfazed as its exclusive style lifestyle brand often creates products with limited quantities, almost guaranteeing its stock will sell out.
