Roomies, it looks like Drakeo The Ruler’s family is having a hard time getting his homegoing service together due to financial burdens. If you recall, he was stabbed at the Once Upon A Time In LA festival last month and passed away due to his injuries. According to TMZ, the late rapper’s mother, Darrylene Corniel, says she can’t afford to bury him in a coffin and has asked the court to give her access to his estate. Court documents state his funeral costs right under $52,000, and using the money from his estate would cover the bill.
However, Darrylene can’t access his assets without a court order. Documents also state Drakeo’s assets should be at least $2 million, and with those funds, Darrylene would be able to give her son a proper burial which she explained is being planned full of dignity, style, and grace. Darrylene has been vocal about her son’s death and wants justice. As we previously reported on December 21st, she spoke with Rolling Stone about his passing and her plans for legal action.
“We plan to sue,” she said. “This happened backstage at an event. Someone has to be held accountable.” It was also noted that she believes the venue’s security failed in their role. While the motive behind the rising rap star’s fatal stabbing is unknown, she believes that jealousy played a role. Darrylene noted, “It is such a shame how much jealousy and envy can make people stoop to such low tactics to try to destroy another individual because of fame and progress.”
