Roommates, Playboi Carti has been laying pretty low on social media lately, but recently decided to make his triumphant return to Instagram—and his new photos has everyone talking. Taking on a dramatic new goth-inspired style, Playboi Carti looks pretty different from how his fans remember.
Within the last few days, Playboi Carti has slowly been bracing his fans for a brand new era, which now includes a completely new look. Clearing his Instagram feed of all prior images, Carti has now only shared photos of himself wearing very dramatic makeup reminiscent of the gothic look. The dark makeup, which he also wore during his appearance with Kanye West at his ‘Donda 2’ performance show in Miami, is shown covering the majority of his face.

However, that’s not the only change to his appearance, as he’s opting for an all-black aesthetic to his clothing, rocking a black jacket, jeans, gloves and black boots. As of now, Carti has not offered any explanation about his new look or if there is a new album or other project in the works that could have possibly inspired it.
Meanwhile, some eagle-eyed fans quickly compared Playboi Carti’s new look to the recent makeup transformation of fellow rapper NBA Youngboy. You’ll recall that late last year, after being released from prison and placed on home confinement, Youngboy shot a video wearing drastic dark makeup, along with his long-time girlfriend Jazlyn.
