Irv Gotti has been speaking about Ashanti and telling all of their business. It looks like Fat Joe is sick of hearing about it.
In an IG live, Fat Joe praised Irv Gotti for his musical genius but also stated the mogul shouldn’t be disrespecting the R&B artist on Drink Champs.

Whatever Irv has with Ashanti is 20 years old,” he said. “I know he was making some points that mean a lot to him, his heart and soul. But when you keep ranting about somebody 20 years later, it felt like he’s not over the young lady, right?
Fat Joe continued to explain that he didn’t know Irv Gotti and Ashanti were dating.
Also, we didn’t know that they was f***ing. ‘Cause the whole time, I’m there! ‘What’s Luv,’ Big Pun record, on tour…I never seen them together like that. Now, I’m not saying they wasn’t–they was–or there was rumors they was. I never seen it. But I don’t need to know!
The rapper expressed it was OK to speak his truth for the documentary but to do interviews about her is out of line.
It’s OK if it’s on a documentary, you gotta say your truth in your documentary. But to go to Drink Champs and keep calling her a b**ch, keep disrespecting…Ummm, I’m not the guy to stand up for Ashanti. Ja Rule was standing right next to him,” he stated before taking a long pause. “I’m not gonna be that guy. But, I’m not telling stories about a girl I was with 20 years ago.
He also said that Ashanti never disrespected him, and his need to continue to disrespect her makes him less credible.
Irv Gotti did discover her. Irv Gotti did make the hits, and did shoot the video. He signed DMX, Jay Z; he signed Ja (Rule). He’s a genius, but he makes himself look crazy and the woman never disrespected him.
Irv Gotti’s Drink Champs Interview
In the Drink Champs interview, he discussed how he found out Ashanti was dating Nelly.
I could get past you wanting to be with Nelly. Listen, at the time it happens, any man is hurt. The chick you f**king are in love with is with this n***a.
N.O.R.E. followed up and said, “Country Grammar,” which is Nelly’s 2000 hit single off of his debut album, which is also titled the same.
The producer continued to explain how he found out about Ashanti and Nelly’s relationship. The 52-year-old explained that he was at home, and as he turned on his TV to watch an NBA program, he looked and saw Nelly and Ashanti walk in together after hearing some commotion on the screen.
As you know, the two dated for nearly a decade before calling it quits.
