Abraham Isaac Quintanilla Jr., the man who helped shape the late Selena Quintanillas legendary career, has passed away. And the news is hitting fans hard. The woman who changed Latin music forever didnt rise aloneand now, her father and longtime manager is being remembered in a big way.
Abraham Isaac Quintanilla Jr., Selenas father and longtime manager, has died at the age of 86. The news was confirmed by his son, Abraham A.B. Quintanilla III, who shared an emotional Instagram post on Saturday, December 13. “Its with a heavy heart to let you guys know that my Dad passed away today,”A.B. wrote, alongside a photo of his father set to Pedro Infantes ‘Cien Aos.’ At this time, no cause of death has been publicly released.
Fans quickly flooded A.B. Quintanillas Instagram comment section as news of his fathers passing spread, sharing reactions in both English and Spanish. Some fans shared personal memories of meeting Abraham Quintanilla, while others offered prayers, love, and condolences to the family.

Abraham is survived by his wife Marcella Quintanilla and their children A.B. and Suzette. The family rose to fame through their late daughter Selena, who was tragically killed in March 1995 at just 23 years old by former fan club president Yolanda Saldvar. For years, Abraham managed Selena and her band Selena y Los Dinos, a family affair that included A.B. on bass, Suzette on drums, and Selenas husband Chris Prez on guitar. The family later partnered with Netflix on both ‘Selena: The Series’ and the documentary ‘Selena y Los Dinos: A Familys Legacy,’ which premiered in November.
Before guiding Selenas groundbreaking career, Abraham was a musician himself, performing in a band called Los Dinos. A.B. has shared that his fathers own experiences in the music industry allowed him to recognize Selenas rare talent early on, saying Abraham saw something special others couldnt. His influence not only shaped Selenas rise, but also helped cement a legacy that continues to resonate across generations.
