Anne Heche Reportedly Brain Dead, Not Expected To Survive Car Crash

Actress Anne Heche Reportedly Brain Dead, Not Expected To Survive Car Crash Where Cocaine, Fentanyl Were Found In Her System

Actress Anne Heche is reportedly brain dead and not expected to survive after crashing her car in several homes in California last Friday, and preliminary reports show she had cocaine and fentanyl in her system.

Heche, 53, has been hospitalized since the accident, where authorities say she was speeding around 90 mph in her blue Mini Cooper when she crashed into one home and then another, leaving the second structure in flames, according to NPR.

The crash caused her to suffer an anoxic brain injury, a representative told Deadline.

Actress Remains In A Coma In “Extreme Critical Condition,” Rep Says

She’s remained in a coma in “extreme critical condition,” her rep added.

“At this time Anne is in extreme critical condition. She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” the rep said in a statement shared with Deadline.

“She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

Her condition has “not improved since she was admitted to the hospital,” according to her representative.

The Daily Mail reports that she is expected to be taken off of life support in the coming days.

Authorities Found Cocaine, Fentanyl In Heche’s System At Time Of Fiery Crash

Initial reports suggested that she had alcohol in her system at the time of the crash, however LAPD sources have since revealed she tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl. However, the fentanyl may have been found after being administered as a pain medication after her arrival at the hospital, per reports.

Cops say an investigation into the crash is ongoing, with felony DUI charges reportedly looming if and when Heche’s condition improves.

Hours before the fiery crash, Heche could be heard slurring her words on an episode of her “Better Together” podcast, which has since been taken down, but clips of the segment, obtained by TMZ, have since circulated online.

“We are sitting with Re:Find. We each have a bottle in front of us because our friends sent us a bottle Re:Find! I once even did a terrible commercial for them. And we listened to the doctor’s advice! And we are drinking it – with wine chasers. I don’t know what happened – sometimes days just suck. I’m rocked – I am rocked. That’s why I’m just drinking some vodka and wine,” Heche said.

Heche’s Ex-Wife Ellen DeGeneres Responds To News Of Her Dire Condition

When asked about her condition, Ellen DeGeneres, who was married to Heche from 1997 to 2000, told the Daily Mail that “we are not in touch with each other, so I would not know.”

However, she added “I don’t want anyone to be hurt.”

Heche faces some serious legal trouble, and possibly jail time, should she pull through following the devastating car crash.
