Roommates we are sending our deepest condolences to the family of actress Natalie Desselle after it was revealed that she passed away at the age of 53.
According to TMZ, a family member revealed that she had been battling colon cancer and that she was first diagnosed earlier this year. The site also reports that Natalie was in hospice care during her final days, and was surrounded by her loved ones when she transitioned.
Fellow actress Holly Robinson Peete was the first person to share the news with social media. In a tweet, Holly said, “Just absolutely decimated by this news… Actress Natalie Desselle, a bright shining star passed away this morning. I got to know her when my mom was managing her. She will be so missed…sending out prayers to her children and husband.”
Shortly after that, an official statement was posted to Natalie’s Instagram account confirming the sad news.
The statement read, “It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beautiful Natalie this morning. She was a bright light in this world. A queen. An extraordinary mother and wife. Her diverse career touched so many and she will be loved forever. Naturally, we are grieving and processing this profound loss and we thank you in advance for respecting our privacy at this extremely difficult time.”

Natalie has played various roles in films that have been deemed black classics.
In 1997, she starred alongside Halle Berry in “B.A.P.S,” which was directed by Robert Townsend. She also starred in Def Jam’s “How To Be A Player,” which released the same year. Other prominent roles include her roles in the UPN sitcom “Eve” and Tyler Perry’s “Madea’s Big Happy Family.”
