I guess we have found someone who actually loves herself more than Kanye loves Kanye!
40-year-old, Yasmine Eleby, told herself that if she didn’t find a man by the time she became 40, she would marry herself and boy was she serious! But wait it is illegal to marry yourself in the United States, so they called it a “spiritual ceremony”.
She got hitched (to herself) at the Houston Museum of African American Culture, in Texas. Complete with flowers and candles as well as Eleby actually walking herself down the aisle, the wedding was a dream that many woman would have. Eleby says she chose this venue because her community felt welcomed there and that it was an “open canvass” where she could have room to do whatever she wanted.
Her family was in full support of the marriage as her sisters were her bridesmaids and her mom chose to walk her down the aisle to give her away, to herself. One of her sisters, who is also a minister, helped her exchange her vows before God.
She even took it a step further and is actually going on a honeymoon! She has plans to visit Cambodia, Laos, and the jazz festival in Dubai this year, all just to treat herself!
I wonder how she plans on consummating the marriage, hmmm.
Don’t get me wrong she is a beautiful woman, and I am all for express of self love, but it also has me wondering, what is the rush on commitment? I understand if you have a terminal disease and want to do something as crazy as that, but to spend all that money on yourself because you’re 40 and still haven’t found a man, is kind of out there. Nowadays 40 is the new 20 but I guess Match.com and EHarmony wasn’t doing their jobs.
