Ain’t Worried ‘Bout Nothin’! Mariah Carey Says The Grammys Screwed Her Over Multiple Times — But She’s Unbothered!

First of all, Y’all know how these allegations of the Grammys snubbing artists pop up every once in a while, and Mariah Carey is the latest with the snubbed-tea!

She claims the Grammys showed her love in her early years, but soon after she reached a certain level of success they were uninterested in her taking home any more awards.

Mariah broke the news in a recent interview with V Magazine that she is working on her first studio album since signing to Roc Nation back in 2017. Additionally, she says deadlines for the album aren’t a bother to her–especially not Grammy eligibility deadlines–and here’s why.

“In the music business, if you care about the Grammys and submitting your stuff before a certain time frame, you want a single out in the summer, and then you want to have your record [out] before the Grammys [consideration] deadline, which has changed,” she said during the interview. “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn. I mean, I have five Grammys. That’s cute. There’s people that have been doing this half the time that have twice as many [Grammys]. I won two Grammys the first year I started, but after that, [the Grammys] are like, ‘We don’t go with the people that are selling a lot of records and are popular; we’re gonna go the opposite way.’ So I got screwed out of certain years. I wasn’t bitter about it.”

As far as the actual album, Mariah speaks highly of it — even reassuring the magazine that it won’t be another Christmas release. Check out the full interview here.

In the meantime, are Y’all looking forward to another Mariah album?!
