Alcohol Sales See A Major Increase During Viral Pandemic

As everyone adjusts to being quarantined, it seems only right that many of the adults are stockpiling liquor and that has increased alcohol sales.

According to Nielsen, alcohol sales increased to 55%, in the U.S., the  week ending March 21.

Tequila, gin, and pre-mixed drinks are responsible for that spike with 75% of an increase. Not shocking, wine sales have also increased by 66% with beer sales rising by 44%.

With the country ordered to stay home and even some states up until June this is surely no surprise

Many people have been displaced, due to this viral pandemic. With over 3 million people filing for unemployment and millions jobs are on hold, it’s no surprise that the alcohol sales have increased.

Nielsen also reports that online sales increased by 254%.
