On Thursday, July 3, White took to her Instagram Stories with a bombshell: she and Derrick are no longer headed to the altar. After some “prayer and reflection,” they decided to call off the engagement, she shared in her post. However, the 37-year-old stated that the two would continue as good friends, indicating an amicable split. Furthermore, she shared that they still have love for each other and feel “God’s guidance” is leading them on separate paths.
“We both believe that God’s guidance has shown us that his is the right path for both of us, as we each continue our journeys,” she continued. May we find peace and fulfillment in His divine will, trusting that His pain is greater than our own.”
Derrick posted the same message on his Stories, marking the end of a two-year romance between the two.

How It All Began For The Couple
Angela and Derrick started dating in May 2023, but they didn’t make it official on Instagram until September, when the mom of two posted her boo on her page, calling him her “best friend and lover,” per PEOPLE. Derrick returned the love, shouting out his leading lady for helping him level up his faith and mindset. He wrote how it “hits different when you find your best friend and lover at the same time.”
Additionally, in a January 2025 Entertainment Tonight sit-down, he gushed about Angela White’s big heart and hustle, noting her “love for her goals, her passions, her career is different.” Having started her sobriety journey in September 2022, their bond had fans rooting hard for them, with many happy to see Angela’s life continuing to elevate. They even talked about possibly having kids, indicating to fans once more that this relationship was the real deal.
The Couple Had No Plans For A Prenup After Their Engagement
Derrick made sure to do his big one for his proposal in October 2024 when he popped the question to Angela onstage at Howard University’s Yard Fest. The crowd celebrated in cheers as Angela, totally caught off guard, said yes! Fast forward to November, and the pair were spilling on tying the knot without a prenup on Angela Yee’s ‘Lip Service’ podcast. The two said they’d remain married for a lifetime, and a prenup was not on either of their minds. Derrick kept it all the way real, saying Angela’s cars and house were hers, and his stuff was his, per Complex. He added that there would be no need for a prenuptial agreement since they were staying together, no matter what.
Angela had echoed similar words, saying there’d be no prenup because they were “not getting divorced.” When co-host Jordan Emmanuel brought up protecting assets in case of cheating or abuse, Chyna nodded, saying those were valid reasons to rethink things but stood firm on her no-prenup vibe.
