Another Revival Of “The Game” Announced—This Time In Development At New Streaming Service Paramount+

#Roommates, now that it has finally dropped on Netflix, classic sitcom “The Game” could be officially on its way back in the form of a revival. It was recently confirmed that a second revival of “The Game” is currently in development, following the previous potential revival last year at the CW network that ultimately fell through at the last minute.

Although they are often a mixed blessing, there is no doubt that Hollywood is fascinated with the idea of remakes, reboots and revivals—and now one of the most beloved shows in our culture is set to finally make an official return. @HollywoodReporter recently revealed that a revival of the CW (and later BET) series “The Game” is currently in the works at CBS All Access, which will be rebranded as the new streaming service Paramount+. This news comes after a previous failed reboot back in December of 2019 that fell through after series creator Mara Brock Akil couldn’t come to terms with the new direction the network wanted to take the series.

Paramount+ will also be part of BET’s streaming programming, while CBS Television Studios and Grammnet Productions will produce “The Game’s” revival series. Currently, no other details about the series’ return are available, including the involvement of Mara Brock Akil, who just signed a massive multi-million dollar deal with Netflix to create original content. However, it would be likely that she would be included in the series in some capacity.

There is also no word on if any of the original cast of “The Game” will be on board for the revival or if this new version is the same as what was developed last year for The CW from Mara Brock Akil and the writer of “American Soul,” Devon Gregory.

“The Game” originally aired for three seasons on CW from 2006-2009 before it was cancelled and then the series was picked up by BET, where it aired from 2011 until 2015. The series starred Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall, Hosea Chanchez, Coby Bell, Brittany Daniel and Wendy Raquel Robinson.
