A tragic shooting unfolded at Antioch High School in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday, January 22, leaving the suspect and another student dead, with one additional student injured.

Details On Nashville Antioch High School Shooting
The shooting happened in the cafeteria at Antioch High School around 11:09 a.m. Police have identified the shooter as a 17-year-old male named Solomon Henderson who turned the pistol on himself after the attack. He later died from his injuries as reported by CNN.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center confirmed that one female student lost her life in the attack and has been identified as 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante, per The Tennessean. Another student reportedly sustained a graze wound to their arm but is in stable condition. Additionally, CNN notes that a separate student suffered a facial injury, although they reportedly were not shot.
According to The Tennessean, a SWAT searched for additional victims after the incident. However, “none were found.”
Antioch High School, located in Nashville’s Antioch neighborhood about 10 miles southeast of downtown, serves around 2,000 students across grades 9 through 12, according to its official website.
Antioch High School Responds To The Tragedy
Right after the shooting, the Nashville Metro School District addressed the situation on X (formerly Twitter). They confirmed the school went into lockdown during the incident but assured everyone that no current threat exists to the campus. The district also promised to share updates as they continue investigating the situation.
“Antioch High School is on a lockdown due to shots being fired inside the school building. Metro Police are on the scene. The person responsible for shooting is no longer a threat. We will be gathering students in the auditorium and will provide information on reunification as soon as possible,” the school district said in a statement after the incident.
