#Roommates, do you think relationship drama is contagious? A new study says it just might be!
If someone close to you is going through a divorce, there is a chance that you and your boo may be next, according to research done by Brown University, Harvard University, and UC San Diego, USA Today reports.
The study found that couples are 75 percent more likely to split if their close family or friends are going through a separation. The study also adds that if you are a friend of a friend, you are 33 percent more likely to get divorced.
Instead of taking on your friend’s divorce energy, family law attorney Jana Foreman told CBS-affiliate station KBTX-TV that you should stay focused on the good in your relationship when someone close to you is going through a hard time.
“Look at your marriage and ask, how can I do better?” she said. Foreman added that turning the statistics around and looking at all the good things can be very positive for your own relationship.
The study also revealed that divorced people are more likely to date other divorced people.
