Movies with a casino theme

Interest in games and betting at online casinos has never been higher than it is right now. Since 2019, the Swedish gaming market has changed and opened up to private players who applied for a Swedish license - something that, in turn, has made Swedes play like never before.
People have been fascinated by gambling for money since thousands of years ago. At the gladiatorial games in Rome, money was bet on which gladiator would emerge victorious, and money was often bet on various card games throughout history. Today, many people either play at a casino that holds a Swedish license, or choose to go abroad through, for example, MGA casino which you find at https://poker2casinos.net/.

Las Vegas

Thanks to the fact that games and gambling do very well on the big screen, there are many films that either partially take place in a casino environment, or have it as the basis for the entire plot. In this text we will go through 4 movies that offer fantastic entertainment and that also have a lot of casinos incorporated.

Casino Royale (2006)

The first Bond film starring Daniel Craig as England's most prominent spy has since its release become something of a modern classic. The film takes place in a privately owned casino where Bond must win a poker match with astronomical stakes to ensure that the villain, Le Chiffre, does not succeed in winning to finance his terrorist plans. The film is loosely based on one of the first James Bond books, but in the original Baccarat was played. During the time the movie was shot, a poker boom swept the world, and that's also why the game was changed to poker.
Casino Royale is a film that mixes high-octane action in the form of car chases and shootouts with more methodical tension around a poker table. It's a perfect movie for some Friday entertainment when you want an action movie that isn't just two hours of one-liners and explosions.

Even if you have never played poker before, you can get a lot of enjoyment out of watching Casino Royale. If you have no idea how poker hands and their value work, it might be wise to take a few minutes to review the value of these, but it really isn't necessary to appreciate the film.

21 (2008)

Unlike Bond, this film is exclusively about casino games. As the name suggests, it is a film where Blackjack is at the center . In the film, you get to follow a student studying mathematics at the incredibly prestigious school MIT in Boston. He is recruited by his professor after demonstrating his mental arithmetic skills. He meets some other students in the evening and is introduced to the concept: every weekend they go to Las Vegas and count cards at the Blackjack tables.
This film is a dramatization of a real event. Around the turn of the millennium, a group of students at MIT realized that together they could outsmart just about any casino by simply counting cards to increase their own odds of winning. They also succeeded very well in this, and many of the team took home millions.

Ocean's Eleven (2001)

For those who are hungry for more action and entertaining dialogue, Ocean's Eleven can fit like a glove. In the film, we get to follow the gentleman thief Danny Ocean, played by George Clooney, as he puts together a team to rob a large casino in Las Vegas. Here, a very authentic casino environment is offered, even if the slightly slower and more intense scenes are conspicuous by their absence.
This is a movie that is perfect to watch with the whole family as it is entertaining all the way through, without ever getting overly complicated or violent. Everyone on the TV sofa can be entertained by Ocean's Eleven, and the ending is guaranteed to leave you speechless. The film is really carried by Clooney, but also Brad Pitt who plays his right hand man. The film is also not without a love interest and Julia Roberts plays the role with gusto.

If you liked Oceans Eleven, you can also take the time to look through all the other films that followed it. All have the same overall premise, but the plot obviously varies greatly from film to film.

Rain Man (1988)

For those who want a film with more card counting, the classic Rain Man with Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise is the perfect choice. Here you get to follow two brothers, one of whom has autism, on a journey through the United States. They stop at a casino and quickly discover that the autistic brother is extremely skilled at counting cards in Blackjack. This takes a backseat to the film as a whole, but has become the segment that many people remember most from the film.
