Atlanta Formally Goes Back To Phase 3 Of Reopening—New Measures Include Limited Outside Trips & Limited Occupancy In Restaurants And Retail Spaces

Roommates, following Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms reinstating the city-wide mask mandate in public places—the city of Atlanta has just announced it’s going back to Phase 3 of reopening. Atlanta’s protocols and restrictions of Phase 3 include, limiting trips outside, wearing a mask while at indoor public places and limited occupancy in food and retail spaces.

According to a lengthy statement from the city of Atlanta, plans have officially been reinstated to ensure that the surging Delta variant numbers of COVID-19 don’t continue to spread any more than they already have.

The decision to revert back to Phase 3 was based on current data and metrics, according to city officials. The city also said “we are updating aspects of the plan and guidelines based upon public health guidance to reflect the important impact of vaccines.”

Additionally, Atlanta has decided to formally delay reopening the city to the public at large until after the Labor Day holiday in early September. This preventative measure is due to wanting to have a better understanding of current employee vaccination rates before opening city facilities.

Atlanta’s plans further include “implementing a plan to identify whether or not employees have been vaccinated, provide additional outreach, and provide additional access and incentives to get vaccinated.”

Meanwhile, although full vaccinations are not currently mandated by the city, Atlanta officials say they are currently considering that as an option to ensure the health and safety of residents.
