Atlanta Mother Creates Game Controller From Cardboard Box To Keep Toddler Entertained While Quarantined

It’s no secret that young kids love technology, specifically anything that involves controllers and game systems.

From holding their parents cell phones hostage, in order to watch YouTube, to playing video games, these toddlers are a force to be reckoned with and one mama figured out the formula.

Atlanta, GA mother, Baqarah, has been in quarantine since March. Because her 2-year-old son, Amir, has expressed he wanted a PlayStation, she decided to make a crafty controller, in order to keep him entertained.

“I lost my job the first week of March. I was working at a hotel and they told us that we won’t be back until late June, if everything works out,” she revealed.

Being home with her son and no extra help she decided to think outside the box.

“So right now I’m home with my 2-year-old son, no childcare or extra hands to help…So, I have to be creative to keep him busy,” she continued.

To keep thangs creative, she used the extra time to get back to her love for art and created a controller out of a cardboard box and nail glue.

“It was actually a cardboard box from an old amazon package,” the Atlanta mother stated. “I just drew out the shape of a controller, cut it out, sewed it together, and painted the pieces, she shared.”

“I also used nail glue for my nails and thread to sew the controller pieces on,” Baqarah added.

Baqarah turns on a YouTube tutorial game and Amir thinks he’s in control and is having the time of his life.

“He thinks it does something to the T.V.,” she said. “He thinks it controls the game, when it’s really just a YouTube video. Hopefully it lasts because he’s smart, but it’s keeping him entertained for now.”

“Quarantine season” is bringing out the best in many of us. From Instagram Live battles, online workout sessions, and even being entertained with Tik Tok vids and challenges, seems like we’re all trying to make the best out of time.
