Bill & Melinda Gates Call It Quits After 27 Years

TSR Breakups: After 27 years of marriage, Bill and Melinda Gates have decided to end their union. The billionaires put out a joint message, shared on each of their social media accounts, explaining that they’ve essentially thrown in the towel.

The couple shares three adult children and a foundation.

“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” the message begins. “Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.”

The couple began dating in 1987 and wed on January 1, 1994.

The breakup seems amicable enough, as the pair still plans to continue their humanitarian work through their foundation despite the split.

“We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives,” the message read. “We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.”

The Gates’ net worth is estimated to be more than $130 billion.

Bill and Melinda Gates immediately started to trend on social media after he shared the major announcement.

While some people were jokingly already checking to see if Bill needs a sugar baby, others mentioned another recent high-profile divorce involving billionaires Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos.

The Bezos’ split a little less than two years ago, costing Jeff a whopping $35 billion!

Now I’m not saying it’s a hot girl summer for Melinda and MacKenzie, but the ladies definitely have a hefty bag to enjoy this season!

We’ll keep you posted on any updates.
