‘Black-ish’ Creator Kenya Barris Files For A Restraining Order Against His Sister

It looks like Kenya Barris is looking to have his own sister keep her distance away from him and his children.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Kenya has filed documents asking a judge to step in to force his sister Colette Barris to keep her distance because he reportedly claims that she is “cashing in on his name,” and threatening his children.

In the documents, Kenya listed alleged incidents where he claims that Colette has used his name and their family connection to seek opportunities in Hollywood. However, after some failed attempts to get her projects up and running, Kenya reportedly fears that Colette will take out her anger against him on his children. Therefore, he is asking a judge to enforce a court-ordered shield of protection. He continued to mention that his relationship with his sister has been rocky because she reportedly continues to use his name for the benefit of her projects.

It’s also alleged that Colette has demanded that Kenya take care of her and their extended family financially.

Kenya also alleges that Colette sent him a legal demand letter, saying that he must fund her current project, which is reportedly worth $4 million. He also claimed that she said if he didn’t do what she demanded, she would go public.

As many of you know, outside of the success of “Black-ish” the show has two successful spinoff shows, with a third one in the works. Aside from that, Kenya also starred in his own Netflix show “#blackAF,” which was renewed for a second season, along with other projects for Netflix in the works.
