Brandy Norwood had fans confused and concerned after suddenly dipping mid-performance during the Chicago stop of her and Monicas ‘The Boy Is Mine’ tour but now, shes speaking out. The R&B icon took to social media to explain what really went down behind the scenes, and sis kept it honest.
According to Brandy, the abrupt exit wasnt about drama it was about health. On Sunday, October 20, she took to Instagram to explain that after weeks of back-to-back rehearsals, she started feeling faint and dehydrated on stage and had to leave the venue to get checked out by a doctor nearby. Brandy apologized to her fans in Chicago for the shows sudden end, saying she tried to return and power through. Additionally, between the technical difficulties and her condition, it just wasnt possible to deliver the experience fans deserved. Still, she showed love to her co-headliner Monica, calling her my sister for stepping up when it mattered most. Brandy assured fans shes taking the necessary precautions and will be back on stage in full force starting with their next stop in Indianapolis.
To my dear fans in Chicago, Thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, andmost importantlyyour prayers, Brandy said in a statement. I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last nights performance in Chicago. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint, everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance.
Fans wasted no time running to The Shade Room comment section once the news broke. And thankfully, the overall vibe was love. Many were just relieved Brandy was okay and prioritizing her health, while others couldnt help but crack a few lighthearted jokes. You already know that fans were excited to see Brandy and Monica reunite for their ‘The Boy Is Mine’ tour stop in Chicago. But, things didnt exactly go as planned. Mid-performance of her hit song ‘Baby,’ Brandy could be seen signaling to the crew about technical issues, specifically something off with her sound. Give me one second yall, I gotta get my she said before stepping backstage and never returning.
According to fans in the building, Brandy didnt hit the stage again that night, leaving Monica to hold it down solo. Monica kept it cute and professional, still sharing love for her tour mate and giving the crowd a performance. However, many noticed the two didnt perform their classic collab ‘The Boy Is Mine’ before the show wrapped. At the time, Brandys camp hadnt issued a statement, leaving fans online confused and concerned about what went down behind the scenes.
