Brandy Sues Record Label for Blocking The Release of New Music

We last heard new music from Brandy back in January when she released her single “Beggin & Pleadin”. Prior to that everyone wondered when we get another project from the songstress with her last album “Two-Eleven” being released back in 2012. Now details have been revealed as to why it’s been taking some time for Brandy to drop a new album.

Earlier this week she filed a lawsuit against her former label Chameleon Entertainment Group, claiming that they blocked her from recording new music. She signed a joint deal with RCA and Chameleon back in 2011. Following the release of her last album, the deal gave the label the option to release four more albums.

However, the label allegedly blocked Brandy from recording new music within the last four years. All in which she claims was their way of getting her to sign a new deal.

Breyon Prescott, the CEO of Chameleon is also an A&R over at Epic Records. According to the suit, he tried to get Brandy to sign with Epic, which would have allowed him double the profit. If Brandy had signed, Prescott would profit as owner of Chameleon and also as an A&R over at Epic.

Nonetheless, Brandy has her contract with the label dissolved but wants a judge to rule that the terms are void.

Hopefully this brings us one step closer to getting a new Brandy album really soon.
