Roomies, during ESPN ‘First Take’ HBCU tour at the Magic City Classic in Birmingham, Cam Newton found himself in a straight-up mascot showdown and yes, it got a little messy.
It all went down after a 40-yard dash between the Alabama State Hornets’ mascot and the mascot of the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, Butch Henry. Cam was hyped, celebrating the Hornets win, but the Bulldog mascot apparently took it personally. It’s unclear who threw the first jab or push. But things quickly got physical: Newton open-hand slapped the mascot, while Butch Henry kept it coming, and Newton ended up shoving him while repeatedly yelling, Stop playing with me!
Of course, the moment didnt stay quiet for long. Clips immediately went viral, social media had a field day, and even Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin threw in a playful jab: Cam Newton-1 Bulldogs Mascot-0. Safe to say, Cam wasnt playing games and this mascot probably wont forget it anytime soon.
As soon as the video hit feeds, fans rushed to The Shade Room comment section to weigh in. And, the reactions were chaotic, as expected. Some were straight-up confused, typing things like, WTH is going on? while others couldnt help but clock Cams outfit, saying it made him look untouchable and not someone youd try to play with. The comment thread quickly became a mix of laughter, shock, and full-on Cam stanning energy.
